A macerating toilet is an essential device when installing or connecting a conventional toilet to the wastewater network is difficult or impossible.
How a macerating toilet (also called a Saniflo) works
The operation of a macerating toilet is very simple.
The water and matter at the bottom of the bowl are sucked up, then crushed and propelled into small diameter pipes, connected to the wastewater network.
On the machines sold by Broyeursani.fr, grinding is achieved by the rotation of a knife, a grater, or a turbine, driven by an electric motor. Our adaptable shredders are equipped with a knife, while the compact models are equipped with a turbine or a grater.
The adaptable macerating toilet
On this page you will find our selection of adaptable macerating toilets.
These devices come in the form of small boxes that connect discreetly to the back of a standard toilet. Inside the box, a powerful electric motor grinds and lifts the waste by driving a blade and a turbine. The system activates automatically when the toilet is flushed.
Some models, like the Aquasani 3 , allow you to connect two sanitary fixtures in addition to a standard toilet, such as a sink, bidet, or shower!
Installing your adaptable toilet macerator
Installing a macerating toilet is very simple, but it requires a few prerequisites; you will need:
1. A floor-mounted or wall-hung toilet connected to a water supply with a shut-off valve.
2. A standard electrical power outlet.
3. A PVC drain pipe with a diameter of 22 to 40 mm (depending on the model), connected to the main drain.
All that remains is to connect the macerator to the back of the standard toilet, connect the macerator's discharge elbow to the PVC drain pipe connected to the main water supply pipe, and then plug in your appliance to obtain a functional toilet!
Note: The macerators sold on Broyeursani.fr are all equipped with a non-return valve which prevents the devices from starting unexpectedly or the backflow of water into the toilet.
Tips for optimal performance
• Crusher maintenance
Never throw anything other than toilet paper into it to avoid damaging the grinding mechanism.
Using a specific descaler for WC macerators quarterly will also make cleaning easier and preserve the proper functioning of your macerator.
• Sound insulation.
If the appliance is not installed correctly, the vibrations from its motor can cause noise. Here are some effective tips to make our shredders even quieter.
1) You can place an absorbent mat under the base of the grinder to prevent the vibrations from spreading to the frame.
2) For the same reasons, take care to avoid any contact between the grinder and the back wall.
3) The drain pipe installation must also be securely anchored in the wall, without being in direct contact with it. You can even use anti-vibration clamps (with an insulated rubber layer around the perimeter), which you should install at a maximum interval of 100 cm, to achieve maximum sound insulation.
• Lifting
Adaptable macerators are capable of lifting wastewater several meters, to optimize the lifting height:
Reduce the use of elbows to the bare minimum, and prefer two 45° elbows rather than one 90° elbow, in order to limit pressure losses and reduction of flow rate (and therefore the height/length of the lift).
• The crusher's discharge
Do not connect any other appliance to the drain that runs from the grinder to the main water supply valve.
